5/8 NOAH Results
NOAH’s GREAT VOYAGE 2011 Vol. 2 in Tokyo is in the books, as promised earlier here are the full results from Ariake Colisseum:
They claimed 4400 paid. Much better than the last time but still not that good.
Satoshi Kajiwara, Kento Miyahara & Katsuhiko Nakajima beat Mikey Nicholls, Taiji Ishimori & Atsushi Aoki in 9:30. Kajiwara pinned Nicholls after a moonsault press.
Yoshinari Ogawa & Masao Inoue beat Kentaro Shiga & Akira Taue in 11:39. Ogawa pinned Shiga.
Yutaka Yoshie & Takeshi Morishima beat Takashi Okita & Kensuke Sasaki in 11:11. Morishima pinned Okita after a backdrop.
Go Shiozaki beat Shuhei Taniguchi in 20:28 by ref stoppage.
In a special 1 vs. 3 handicap match, Yoshinobu Kanemaru, KENTA & Genba Hirayanagi beat Mohammed Yone in 16:55. The rules were that Yone had to pin all 3 members of NO MERCY to win, but Yone only had to be pinned once to lose. Yone beat Hirayangi in 2:42, Yone beat Kanemaru in 11 minutes, KENTA beat Yone in 3:13. NO MERCY wins.
GHC Jr. Heavyweight Champion Kotaro Suzuki beat Ricky Marvin in 21:34 to retain the title. V5 for Suzuki.
GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Takuma Sano & Yoshihiro Takayama beat Akitoshi Saito & Jun Akiyama in 19:11 to retain the titles. Takayama pinned Saito with Everest German. V4 for the champs.
GHC Heavyweight Champion Takashi Sugiura beat Minoru Suzuki in 28:15 to retain the title. V11(!) for Sugiura. 2 to go…I am guessing his next defense will be at the next blowout event, which I believe is in July, so if that’s the case his reign will probably reach 19 months, which puts him 5 months from the record. With the win today, his reign is now past 17 months. And the reference earlier was to that he’s 2 defenses away from tying the all-time record. Both records are held by Kenta Kobashi. Speaking of records, with his 5th successful defense today Suzuki is now one defense from tying the all-time record for Jr. Heavyweight Title defenses (6). As for Sano & Takayama, their win means they’re now about 4 months away from the longest reign ever, which is just over 1 year.
Also this news item, which confirms earlier rumors: The GHC Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Championship is now VACANT. Previous champions Naomichi Marufuji & Atsushi Aoki vacated the titles on April 29 due to a Marufuji injury. The GHC Title Committee has also announced that based on their past match results, a determination match between Kotaro Suzuki & Aoki and Yoshinobu Kanemaru & KENTA has been made for 5/25 at Korakuen to crown new champions.
