Joshi News: Stardom News, Notes, Upcoming Cards

Stardom held their latest press conference earlier today, the main topics were the upcoming Korakuen event on 7/24 (also the Nanae Takhaashi 15th Anniversary Commemoration event) as well as the next event on 7/10 at Chiba Blue Field. Notes from the presser:
The 7/24 card:
Saki Kashima & Eri Susa vs. Mayu Iwatani & Arisa Hoshiki
Haruka vs. Kenny Omega (DDT). 3 minute time limit
Queen Of Stardom Tournament:
Yoko Bito vs. TBA. TBA will be determined after 7/10
Nanae Takahashi vs. Mercedes Martinez (?). That’s my best guess based on translation
Wander Of Stardom Champion Determination Match: Yuzuki Aikawa vs. Yoshiko. In today’s episode of Yoshiko Being Yoshiko, she dressed up in fancy-almost formal even!-white clothes. Yuzuki was present too, and played along. Obviously I am so hoping Yuzuki wins this match and the title
High Speed Champion Leon vs. Natsuki*Taiyo for the title. Leon was present for the signing ceremony. Natsuki obviously wanted this chance for a while but circumstances put it on hold (Stardom opening, NEO closing, etc.)
World Of Stardom Tournament Finals: Bito-TBA winner vs. Takahashi-Martinez winner for the title
Samurai! TV will air the event on tape delay in Japan, first airing is July 27 at 11 PM JST (2 hours). They also will air a special episode of “FIGHTING GIRLS” featuring Yuzuki Aikawa on July 23 at 11 PM JST.

The 7/10 card (Chiba Blue Field):
Stardom Special Battle Royal. 10 players participate, 2 start and a new one enters each minute. Usual battle royal rules apply
Nanae Takahashi, Yoko Bito & Eri Susa vs. Natsuki*Taiyo, Yoshiko & Yuu Yamagata (K-DOJO)
Haruka vs. Mayu Iwatani. 3 minute time limit
Arisa Hoshiki vs. Saki Kashima
Possibly more. Unfortunately…
Injury Report: unfortunately for the guys, absent from the event will be Yuzuki Aikawa. Chest. Out 7/10. But her attending the presser today hopefully means the injury isn’t serious and she hopefully will be back for 7/24. It’ll be the first event she’s missed since her debut. Just as long as the injury doesn’t affect the bouncy-bouncys.

The next road event was also announced recently-9/20 at Odate Citizen Gym. They also announced a start time fhange for 9/10 at Shin-Kiba 1st Ring, from 6 PM to 6:30 PM.

Nanae vs Mercedes? AWESOME. The more SHIMMER wrestlers get to work in Japan, the better. I can’t wait to see that match. We just need Death Rey to agree on something with SMASH (or so the rumormongers say).

Only because I wasn’t 100% sure that it was her, I had a feeling it was based on a lot of stuff Stardom & Ringstars said aboue her (quite a lot, namely many of the other titles she’s won) but I can never be sure sometimes with the kanji translations. I have a feeling she’ll lose to Nanae but will still be a tough opponent.

You put a (?) after the name of Mercedes Martinez. For those who are not aware of her, she is a good indy wrestler from the U.S., and spent some time on the Jimmy Hart “Wrestlicious” TV Fed (along with Lacey Von Erich, Daffney, Serena Deeb, etc.) as the character Maria Toro ….. Toro.

She’s a big, strong-style wrestler. Good challenge for Nanae.

Keep up the GREAT work on the site! Cheers from Canada!!
