NOAH News: Shiozaki Ready To Go Defend Title

NEW GHC Heavyweight Champion Go Shiozaki sure isn’t wasting any time in preparing to defend his new title in NOAH. Daily Sports reports this morning (Japan time, Monday evening US time) that he has already chosen Jun Akiyama as the first challenger for the title. Date TBA. And although it’s not close to official, Shiozaki also stated he’d like to face New Japan star Shinsuke Nakamura at ALL TOGETHER on 8/27 at Nippon Budokan.

Other notes/fallout from the NOAH event yesterday:
After Takashi Sugiura lost the title, NOAH made Sugiura vs. Kensuke Sasaki for GREAT VOYAGE 2011 in Osaka on 7/23.
With his successful defense today, Kotaro Suzuki has now set the new record for most successful GHC Jr. Heavyweight Title defenses in a single reign with 7.
With yesterday’s fallout, here is the latest GREAT VOYAGE 2011 in Osaka card (match order TBA):
Takashi Sugiura vs. Kensuke Sasaki. 1 hour time limit
Jr. Tag League:
Ricky & Rocky Marvin vs. Atsushi Kotoge & Daisuke Harada (Osaka Pro)
Yoshinobu Kanemaru & KENTA vs. Tatsuhito Takaiwa & Osamu Namiguchi
Kotaro Suzuki & Atsushi Aoki vs. Satoshi Kajiwara & Katsuhiko Nakajima
GHC Heavyweight Tag Team Champions Karl Anderson & Giant Bernard (New Japan) vs. Takeshi Morishima & Yutaka Yoshie for the titles (only the GHC Titles)
Kenta Kobashi Return Match: Kenta Kobashi & Go Shiozaki vs. Jun Akiyama & Akitoshi Saito
At least one more match TBA along with Masashi Aoyagi participation among others

Certainly would be nice, but I’m expecting the All Together matches to be non-title. The Big 3 are already doing more of these matches as it is (Suwama-Nagata, Giant Bernard & Karl Anderson holding the IWGP & GHC Tag Titles, Sugiura’s defenses), and Shiozaki was referring to a previous match he had with Nakamura. I’ll verify but I believe it was at the annual Tokyo Dome blowout show this past January. And also keep in mind that Shiozaki was being groomed by Misawa to carry the promotion before Misawa’s death, so one could argue that he was the “chosen one”, no disrespect intended towards Sugiura.

Well, Shiozaki didn’t waste any time in picking a big challenger for his title, probably to prove himself to master Kobashi. But Shiozaki\Nakamura seems a even better affair, after their previous matches. Also, do you think that this statement about All Together means that the title matches will be inter-promotional?
