7/24 Stardom Results

Stardom kicks off a very busy day with their biggest event yet, which featured their crowning their first champions and also commemorated the 15th anniversary of Nanae Takahashi’s debut. Results from their first event at Korakuen:
They claimed 1310 paid (a Full House). For joshi at Korakuen these days, an outstanding number.
Arisa Hoshiki & Mayu Iwatani beat Eri Susa & Saki Kahima in 9:44. Iwatani pinned Susa after a diving body attack.

Haruka vs. Kenny Omega (DDT) went to a 3 minute time limit draw.

Queen Of Stardom Championship Tournament Semifinals:
Yoko Bito beat Mika Nagano in 9:10.
Nanae Takahashi beat Mercedes Martinez in 12:21.

Yuzuki Aikawa beat Yoshiko in 11:47 to win the Wonder Of Stardom Title. Aikawa becomes the first Wonder Of Stardom Champion. Whoo-hoo! I’ll stop myself here before I go on forever, haha.

Natsuki*Taiyo beat High Speed Champion Leon in 21:41 to win the title. Natsuki wins the title for the 3rd time and becomes the 5th High Speed Champion.

Queen Of Stardom Tournament Finals; Nanae Takahashi beat Yoko Bito in 13:17 to win the tournament and the title. Takahashi becomes the first Queen Of Stardom Champion. Not surprised in the slightest bit.

One side note on the belts: The Wonder Of Stardom is also referred to as the “white belt”, Queen Of Stardom is also known as the “red belt”, at least that’s what SportsNavi called them.

Next event is 8/7 at Osaka Minami Move On Arena.

It certainly didn’t hurt that it was Nanae’s 15th anniversary event but I think Yuzuki’s a big part of it-she gets lots of attention from SportsNavi, but both SN & Ringstars give the promotion a lot of coverage, and they also ran before DDT. And don’t forget all Haruka’s matches technically are exhibitions, but yes-she’s that good. She’s probably the hardest-kicking 9-year-old girl out there!

I’ll help with the joy by saying “Bouncy-Bouncy wins! Bouncy-bouncy wins!” Big victory by Aikawa and Taiyo too (and the end of Leon’s big dominance). The big crowd is also fantastic for a modern joshi event, showing that woman’s wrestling is making a comeback in Japan. And Kenny vs Haruka? I have several reactions, but I ask, is Haruka that good already to have a match with “Mr.Street Fighter” (insert irony here)?
