If there’s one sport the Japanese love more than wrestling (not just puroresu, but sumo as well), it’s our-and perhaps theirs too-national pastime, baseball. And they do come together sometimes as seen here-Daily Sports just posted this photo of ZERO1 rookie Daichi Hashimoto appearing to land a Shining Wizard on a mascot at a Central League game between, if I read my translation correctly, the Hiroshima Toyo Carp & Tokyo Yakult Swallows yesterday. Hashimoto evidently got to pitch to the mascot, and that pitch was, as the great Bob Uecker might say, “Juuuuuuuuuuuust a bit outside!” Read: Daichi threw just behind it’s head. And it was on! Daichi would soon make it tap out. No word on if Ozzie Guillen had anything to say about it in his usual postgame rant.

Daichi, already a legend with that picture.

Although it did set up the “finish”, it was not the decisive move. I believe it was, based on my translation, an armbar or cross armbreaker as the mascot would soon give up/tap.

Now Daichi can say he is independent from his father, because there is no record on Shinya delivering Shinning Wizards to baseball mascots… By the way, was that the decisive move of the day or the “match” finished in another way?
