8/3 ZERO1 Results

Day 6 of Fire Festival ’11 is in the books, results from Niigata All Ages City Park:
As always, they didn’t announce attendance.
Munenori Sawa & Kenta Kakinuma beat Mineo Fujita & Yoshikazu Yokoyhama in 12:18. Sawa pinned Yokoyama.

Masato Tanaka & Ikuto Hidaka beat KAMIKAZE & Nick Primo in 16:02. Hidaka pinned Primo.

Fire Festival:
Block A: Akebono beat Zeus in 5:02.
Block B:
Ryouji Sai beat Fujita “Jr.” Hayato in 14:42.
Daisuke Sekimoto vs. Atsushi Sawada went to a d0uble countout in 9:42.

Shinjiro Otani & Kohei Sato beat Daichi Hashimoto & Shito Ueda in 18:29. Otani pinned Ueda after multiple dragon suplexes.

Fire Festival Standings:
Block A:
Akebono: 3-0, 6 points
Kohei Sato: 2-0-1, 5 points
Shinjiro Otani: 1-2, 2 points
Zeus: 0-2-1, 1 point
Kenta Kakinuma: 0-2, 0 points

Block B:
Daisuke Sekimoto: 2-0-1, 5 points
Masato Tanaka: 2-1, 4 points
Ryouji Sai: 2-2, 4 points
Fujita “Jr.” Hayato: 1-2, 2 points
Atsushi Sawada: 0-2-1, 1 point

Here’s how it looks from here: The only scheduled 8/6 match-Otani vs. Kakinuma-is meaningless. In Block A, Akebono-Sato on 8/7 decides it-winner advances. If it’s a draw, Akebono advances. Likewise, Sekimoto-Tanaka on 8/7 decides Block B. A draw means Sekimoto advances.

The 8/6 event likely will have only the Festival match, maybe one or two more. The finals likely will also be Sunday at Korakuen.

I only doubt it just because of the way Akebono is steamrolling everyone, it’s almost unfair. But I kinda figured it was coming since he seems to be good with Otani.
