Joshi News: REINA Adds More Mexican Participation, Another JWP Tournament

Some joshi news:
REINA has added masked Mexican wrestler La Afrodita to Sunday’s event…
Having just turned 21, La Afrodita is a 2-year pro who juggles wrestling in Mexico with being a student, she currently attends cooking school. She arrived in Japan today (wearing her mask of course in keeping with Lucha tradition) and, based on comments she made to Ringstars, probably plans a stay similar to that of fellow CMLL star Dama de Hierro, which is expected to be in the range of 6 months. She’s very happy to be in Japan and probably will find some time for cooking too. She’ll be the TBA previously listed on the card and will face Sakura Hirota Sunday.

JWP held a press conference today to announce, among other things…yes, yet another gosh-darn tournament! This is basically a summer singles tournament, and was planned to maybe have 11-12 people but 3 pulled out even before today for unknown reasons-Command Bolshoi, Kayoko Haruyama & Jaguar Yokota. So they have 8 and did a random draw today to determine matchups. And here’s what we wound up with:
Manami Katsu vs. Hikari Minami
Hanako Nakamori vs. Tomoko Morii
KAZUKI vs. Leon
Tsubasa Kuragaki vs. Misaki Ohata
Katsu-Minami vs. Nakamori-Morii
KAZUKI-Leon vs. Kuragaki-Ohata
All matches except the finals have these rules: 10 minute time limit, if it’s a time limit draw there’s another 5 minutes and in the extra time only a 2 count is needed to win. If it’s still a time limit draw it then continues with no time limit until there is a winner. The finals are no time limit.
The other match is a Plum Mariko Memorial Battle Royal but with a slight twist: The only ways to be eliminated are by submission and OTR-no pinfalls. Announced participation: Command Bolshoi, Kayoko Haruyama, Sachie Abe, Kaori Yoneyama, masu-me, Jaguar Yokota, Hailey Hatred, Sawako Shimotsuke, Yagami Aoi & the 2 new JWP girls who just debuted.

The tournament and all above matches will take place Sunday at Tokyo Cinema Club.
