ZERO1 beware, there’s a Butcher about to be turned loose there. SportsNavi reports popular American hardcore brawler (and acclaimed actor) Necro Butcher will make his first appearance in ZERO1 during the upcoming Tenka-Ichi Jr. series. It’s not known if he’ll actually participate in the tournament or not, but based on the article I read, probably not. But a translation of his comments (translated into Japanese so I had to translate them into English) indicates he’s already asking for a hardcore match with Masato Tanaka, himself a hardcore veteran and a former ECW Heavyweight Champion. We’ll see if that happens. Necro will work all 3 events during the short series-9/13, 9/14 & 9/17. And if you haven’t already, see his Hollywood star turn in the critically acclaimed “The Wrestler”. He deserved all the critical praise he got for his short but excellent performance.

At first thought it sounds to me like it could be a situation similar to MVP’s-at first it appeared he also wasn’t going to be able to get a visa to work in New Japan due to his past criminal record but it came through in the end.

This surprises me, since the last I heard about a year ago was that Necro was caught by japanese customs without a work visa. Turns out all these years he worked for BJW and Inoki’s IGF without a visa, and now was banned from entering Japan for 10 years. I wonder how he managed to get work in Japan again, and if he’ll return to IGF again. If there’s anyone who could have convinced the authorities to limit his ban to 1 year, it’s Inoki (through his *cough* business associates).
