Yoshiko Tamura

Yoshiko Tamura is a 15-year puroresu veteran and the most decorated wrestler in NEO in addition to being the undoubted ace of the promotion. She is the only wrestler to date to hold the NEO Singles Title more than 3 times, she currently is a 7-time champion. Additionally, she holds the NEO all-time record (and what surely is near the top among all puroresu records) for successful title defenses with 15 during her 6th reign. She also is one of only 3 women to ever hold the short-lived WCW Women’s Cruiserweight Championship in 1997. She has competed for NEO ever since its inception in 1997 after beginning her career in All-Japan Women, where she also had a 14-month reign as AJW Junior Champion. Not to mention she looks so damn cool in those shades…
Tamura retired on December 31, 2010, concluding easily one of the greatest careers ever and perhaps the greatest NEO career ever. She lost the NEO Singles & NWA Women’s Pacific Titles to Ayumi Kurihara in her final match, ending her 7th and final title reign at over 19 months, but still went out a true champion. I will greatly miss her as she was my favorite active veteran.
