Mayumi Ozaki

profile_mayumiozaki Mayumi Ozaki is the founder of OZ Academy and a 25-year veteran of puroresu. Her in-ring debut came on 8/17/1986 in a tag match with Esther Moreno against Maiko Tsurugi & Reina Gallegos. Between 1988 & 1995 she held a number of singles and tag team titles throughout Japan, and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter recognized her career year in 1993 with 4 5 Star Matches (which are considered among the greatest ever in women’s tag team wrestling) and the 1993 Match Of the Year award. She also made 2 appearances in the USA in 1995 for WCW.
In 1998 she left JWP and took her heel stable, called OZ Academy, and began using them as freelance talent in other promotions and later began promoting her own shows using her talent as well as those from other joshi promotions while also continuing to compete herself. She remains active to this day as a heel who sometimes gets assistance during matches from “Police”. Her gimmick also gives credence to one of her ring names, “Queen Of The Street Fight”, as she’s not afraid to use the chain wrapped around her in pictures and also pays homage to her stunning beauty-even at 40+ there’s no denying she’s still a very beautiful woman with quite a bit of sex appeal-she even did a modeling video in the late 1990s that integrated highlights of her wrestling career to date with her doing some gravure modeling. She’s quite a combination of beauty and brawn in the ring and a very respected veteran of the sport.
