Ryouji Sai

Ryouji (Ryoji) Sai is a 6-year veteran (technically 9 years but he missed 2-3 years early in his career due to injuries) and one of ZERO1’s top stars and most steady performers, always at or near the top of the promotion. He is a 3rd Generation Zainichi Korean (permanent ethnic Korean resident of Japan). He also is highly educated, having studied in England as a teenager. He’s had success in both singles and tag team ranks, racking up 3 tag team title reigns before winning the ZERO1 World Heavyweight Title earlier this year, continuing a breakout singles campaign that also saw him win the promotion’s annual Fire Festival tournament. He also represents ZERO1 from time to time in other promotions.
Sai was also a TV star in Japan-he participated in what appears to be the final season on the show Ainori, literally meaning “Ride together/Car pool/love ride”, which aired Monday nights on Fuji TV until it ended in March 2009 after 9 1/2 years. Sai appeared from episode 431 on as “Wrestler”, one of 4 men & 3 women participating.
