Takuya Sugawara

Takuya Sugawara is a 10-year veteran who has bounced between Dragon Gate and a couple other promotions in his career. Originally trained by Ultimo Dragon, he debuted in the Toryumon as Henry III Sugawara, part of the Royal Brothers Unit in T2P where all 3 were storyline princes. It didn’t work out and Sugawara stayed in Mexico after T2P closed until turning heel and joining Aagan Iisou. He was fired in 2004 and headed later to El Dorado. He also began competing in ZERO1 while in El Dorado and remained there after leaving El Dorado in 2008, and currently holds the record for longest NWA Intercontinental Tag Team Title reign-399 days. Sugawara made a surprising return to Dragon Gate in late 2009 and won the Battle Of Tokyo tournament in 2010, immediately establishing himself as a title contender although he came up short against YAMATO in a No DQ match for a Open The Dream Gate Title shot soon after. Although he makes semi-regular appearances in DG, he does maintain Independent/Freelancer status and appears regularly in other promotions, these days he competes primarily in ZERO1.
