News: Today’s Events Off Due To Earthquake

All-Japan announced earlier today that due to the incredibly massive earthquake (the USGS says it measured an 8.9 on the Richter scale, which is indescribably huge) and resulting tsunami that has ravaged northeastern Japan, today’s event at Ishimaki City Gym is POSTPONED. No word on a possible make-up date.
The earthquake was centered in northeastern Japan, about 240 miles northeast of Tokyo, and hit at about 2:45 PM JST (12:45 AM ET). Damage is widespread thorughout the northeast part of the country and was felt in Tokyo, and tsunami warnings are up for the Far East and the entire US east coast and even as far away as South America. There are reports of at least 15 deaths so far but that could go much higher
I will continue to monitor the situation and pass along more updates on postponements/cancellations when/if it becomes available-SportsNavi reports that today’s Jewels event, which was to have featured Mika Nagano in action, has also been cancelled.
My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Japan during this indescribable catastrophe. As one from the US West Coast I’m used to hearing about big earthquakes even though fortunately I’ve never experienced one, but this one still blew me away. I never though earthquakes could be this massive.
