LLPW, short for Ladies Legend Pro Wrestling, is a joshi promotion that dates back at least to the early 1990s (the most reliable data I have traces its founding back to 1992). It was founded by wrestler Shinobu Kandori, who also ran the promotion until she resigned, but they continued to promote shows without a president, on average they do one show every 2-3 months. Like the other active promotions they maintain their own talent stable and work with and cross-promote with other joshi promotions. One thing that sets LLPW’s active roster aside from most others in joshi is virtually all it’s wrestlers are veterans-the youngest is 33 while several are in their 40s and virtually all have been wrestling for at least 10 years. The exception is the mysterious “Aiger/Eiger”, who is billed as being 6 years old and has a gimmick that seems to represent an undead person or an albino.
The promotion is inactive as they have only run one show since September 2009, and that was a hastily-assembled charity event, but they will at least briefly resurface in May 2010 for an event co-promoted with WAVE & Ito Dojo on 5/4. They also will promote their own event on 5/8. However, it appears that soon after these May events their website has either disappeared or relocated and it’s not known where it is. What this means for the promotion’s future is not clear. (It’s since started working again so likely a temporary issue)
While LLPW has a Tag Team title, it is inactive as it has not been defended or contested for in over 2 years. The promotion’s singles title was retired in 2003 while a 6-woman tag team title was retired in 2002.
