Miyako Matsumoto

Miyako Matsumoto can perhaps be considered the “pretty girl” wrestler of Ice Ribbon. She lists cosplay among her hobbies, and dressup and “Special makeup” are among her specialties. In the ring, she has just over 2 years of experience and competes in Ice Ribbon. After being mostly used as a jobber early in her career, she became the top “cosplay cutie” in the promotion by pulling off a surprising upset in March 2010 to win the ICEx60 Singles Championship for her first career title. And then, just a few hours later, she won the Triangle Ribbon Championship to become a double champion.
Outside of the ring, she’s an actress/model who has made a number of appearances on Japanese TV shows and in movies. She graduated from Nippon University after studying art. But her choice of favorite wrestler is a little odd-Jun Kasai? (The resident hardcore psycho of Big Japan & Freedoms) But then again, she completed the Ice Ribbon career Triple Crown by winning the International Ribbon Tag Team Championship in May with, of course, Kasai, so who am I to argue with her? And she thinks she’s one of the best wrestlers out there, if not the best…an opinion only shared by herself.
Miyako is no longer with Ice Ribbon as of May 26, 2011. She was kicked out of the promotion on May 25, 2011 after losing a title match against defending ICEx60 Singles Champion Tsukasa Fujimoto-the prematch stip was that if Miyako lost the match, she was out of Ice Ribbon. But she didn’t waste any time announcing her future plans-she created her own promotion, “Gakenohuchi Puroresu” (or loosely “edge of the cliff pro wrestling”) and will hold her first event under the new label on June 3, 2011.
